Room:
The training room is to be set up with tables with 4-6 chairs at each table in order to model the type of seating arrangement used in the RFTS parent group.

Equipment:
Trainers will bring their own laptop computer, LCD projector, and speakers, and will require:
  • a stand (or desk/table) for the LCD projector and speakers,
  • a podium for notes and the laptop computer,
  • a microphone (a standing one is acceptable, but hand-held or earpiece mikes preferable)
  • access to electrical outlets, and an extension cord if the stand and podium are far from the outlets,
  • a screen,
  • a flip chart with paper and markers,
  • a television with DVD player (in case of any technical difficulties with the projector/laptop), and
  • bottled water for the trainers.

Fees and Host Agency Responsibilities:
The host agency is responsible for the costs of training. The costs of training include the speaker fee and RFTS materials (which are mandatory, see below) as well as any potential costs associated with room rental, a/v rental, refreshments, administrative assistance, photocopying of handouts, etc.

Speaker Fee:
The speaker fee for the two (2) day training is $3,500 plus transportation, meals, and accommodation for the two (2) trainers. This fee does not include the RFTS materials (see below). McMaster Children’s Hospital Infant-Parent Program (MCH IPP) will invoice the host agency for the $3,500 speaker fee. Payment is due a least 60 days prior to the training in order to confirm booking.

It is recommended that the host agency contact the MCH IPP (contact information below) to discuss transportation, meals, and accommodation. It is expected that the host agency will arrange for and cover the cost of accommodations, meals, and transportation. Overnight accommodation of two (2) rooms for two (2) nights. Airfare should be economy class, return.

The host agency will be invoiced for any out-of-pocket expenses associated with accommodation, meals, and/or transportation for the trainers. Payment is due within 30 days of the invoice.

RFTS Materials:
In addition to the speaker fee, one (1) RFTS manual ($50) and one (1) DVD (or videotape) ($45) are required for each participant (no exceptions), plus tax and shipping and handling. The host agency is responsible for contacting Judy Ryan (ryanj@hhsc.ca or call 905-521-2100 ext. 77406) to order materials and arrange for shipping. Shipments should be made 2 weeks prior to the training session.

Participant Training (Registration) Fees:
The host agency sets participant training (registration) fees.

Handouts:
MCH IPP will email handouts in advance of the training session to allow time for the host agency to ensure copies are available for each participant.

Advertising/Promotion:
A template of the RFTS Facilitator Training Workshop advertising brochure will be provided to you to individualize for your agency. We strongly recommend advertising start a minimum of six (6) weeks prior to the event. The host agency is requested to provide a copy of the final individualized brochure to the MCH IPP (contact information below).

Bios:
Dr. Alison Niccols is a psychologist and the Clinical Director of the Infant-Parent Program at McMaster Children’s Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario. She is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University. Alison and her colleagues in the Infant-Parent Program developed RFTS. Trainer bios will be provided to the host agency when training arrangements are confirmed.

Other:
Please provide name tags for participants.

The host agency is to provide a list of participants one week prior to the training. Each participant will be provided with a certificate of attendance from McMaster Children’s Hospital.

Training evaluation forms will be provided to all participants and the results will be shared with the host agency.

Cancellation:
In the event of a cancellation by MCH-IPP, every effort will be made to find a mutually agreeable time to reschedule the training session.

In the event of a cancellation by the host agency > 14 days prior to the training session, the training session may be rescheduled at a mutually agreeable alternate time or the speaker fee refunded, whichever is preferable to the host agency.

In the event of a cancellation by the host agency < 14 days prior to the training session (due to not meeting the minimum registration requirements or other circumstances), the host agency may reschedule the training session at a mutually agreeable alternate time or forfeit the speaker fee (and any other non-refundable expenses such as transportation, advertising, etc.), whichever is preferable to the host agency.
